What I do

Hello!! I'm Cindy Ly, founder of ToolBox Consulting. I help construction companies bridge the gap between construction and AI, so the technology actually works for you. Construction, technology, and consulting rarely live in one person. I've spent my career building up experience in all three. This experience allows me to give builders a different perspective when I consult clients. I've been onsite on heavy industrial projects, on multi-year $500M builds. Delivered quick 2-week jobs.

I've consulted with 400+ clients on cost control and AI, from commercial builders to ENR 400 firms and Fortune 500 companies, and worked directly with product managers on feature enhancements. All of that experience comes with me into every client conversation. But at the end of the day, this work is about people, not platforms — my job is to make sure the humans on your team feel confident, not left behind, by the tools you're adopting.

Why I do it?

Building is in my blood. I dropped out of pharmacy school to major in Building Construction Management at Purdue University. I worked onsite for and even when I left the industry for a while to become a yoga teacher in Europe, I always found my way back. There's something about building things bigger than yourself that keeps pulling me in. It’s the community that keeps bringing me back. Fifteen-plus years in this industry, and no matter what my role was, my goal was the same: be the change I want to see in it. There's a shift happening in construction right now, and I want to help lead it — by giving companies practical tools they can actually use, not just theory.
